Toyota Camry Hybrid Gas Mileage

Camry hybrid is a midsize sedan that was introduced in the year 2007. With the introduction of this vehicle, the company has offered the buyers a hybrid car, which doesn’t require any kind of sacrifice, including performance, space or anonymity.

If evaluated on its merits, this vehicle scores well; it shares all attributes, which makes it one of the top family sedans with adequate power, comfortable cruiser, top class interior, ample amenities, and generous room for 5 passengers. The fuel economy that this sedan offers is better than majority of the compact cars and is priced within normal range.

Current Version

2011 Camry Hybrid comes in a single well-equipped trim level: Base. It has downgraded its previous alloy wheels to steel wheels with plastic covers.

It is powered by a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor. The gas engine generates 147 horsepower, and 138 lb-ft of torque, while the electric motor produces 40 horsepower. So the total output reaches 187 horsepower. This sedan can run alone on electric power under light throttle relevancies below 30 mph speed. It is mated to a continuously variable transmission with front wheel drive. It has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds.

Gas Mileage

Toyota Camry Hybrid gasmileage ratings are as specified here.

This sedan offers impressive gas mileage figures, rated at 33 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on highway, and 34 mpg combined driving, while it’s rival Hyundai Sonata hybrid offers higher mileage than this i.e. 35 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on highway, and 37 mpg combined. The fuel economy of Nissan Altima hybrid drops by 1 mpg on highway when compared to Camry hybrid.

Design Aspects

In addition to spacious room for passengers, this hybrid sedan offers innovative features, which enhances cabin comfort. For instance, the standard air filter system “Plasmacluster” ionizes inward air and deactivates germs and odors. It has ample compartments and cubbies to hold cell phones, CDs, and garage cards. The trunk capacity is pretty lesser than regular Camry, which measures 10.6 cubic feet because of extra space occupied by battery pack.

Safety Features

The safety features include antilock brakes with brake assist, traction and stability control, electronic brakeforce distribution, full-length side curtain airbags, front seat side airbags, dual stage front airbags, driver knee airbag and a tire pressure monitor.

Pricing

The pricing of 2011 Camry Hybrid is tagged at $27,050, while its rival 2011 Nissan Altima is priced at $26,800 and 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is tagged at $25,795.

This sedan is a rare hybrid, which makes both financial and environmental sense and is quicker than the regular 4-cylinder model with impressive gas mileage.

Camry 2012 Hybrid

The new Camry 2012 Hybrid sedan has aggressively sharper look, including excellent front grille and side profile. This sedan is completely different from the previous models. Its engine is an improved version of last year’s model and suspension is also improved when compared to its predecessor. It has a newly improved braking system that converts braking energy into electricity. This sedan is not only sporty, but also offers great performance.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior and interior of this sedan is awesome. The front pillars increases visibility and the narrow door panels open up elbow room. It has attractive head lamps and tail lamps, body colour mud flaps, body colour bumper, body colour rear-view mirrors and door handles. The interior appearance of the sedan is much better than the exterior.

The most remarkable improvement has been done to the inner materials. The cabin also performs a better job of restraining road and machine noise. A new upgraded audio system has been implemented in this model, which includes Entune and smart phone connected services like Pandora streaming radio, sports and stock formation, Bing search engine, real-time traffic, ability to reserve a table at a restaurant or movie tickets.

Engine and Power-Trains

This Hybrid sedan comes with a four cylinder 2.5-litre engine, which delivers 156 hp and 156 pounds of torque. It has great fuel efficiency, which gives an estimated mileage of 43 mpg in city and 39 mpg on highways. A continuously variable transmission is paired with the engine to deliver the power to the front wheels. This engine is strong enough; the various changes in weather do not have an effect on it. The engine performance of this sedan is mind blowing.

Safety

This hybrid sedan comes out with standard battery features, including stability control, anti-locking brake system, knee air bags for passenger and driver, full-length curtain airbags, and front and rear seat side air bags.

Driving Impressions

We have driven only the brief of Camry Hybrid. It offers agile and smother driving performance for the driver. The power steering of this sedan is excellent; it is incomparable with the other models available in the market. The challenging turns are easily made by this sedan. Its overall performance is spectacular.

Competitors

It is a big competitor for Nissan, Honda, Chevy, and Ford.

Pricing

The MSRP of this Camry 2012 Hybrid is $ 25,900

Fiat to Launch “Baby Jeep” in Italy

After the Fiat/Chrysler merger we have been waiting to see any new model that they would conceptualize and manufacture together as a unit. As per Automotive News, the first product that way is going to be a “baby” Jeep, which expected to be built only for the European auto market.

The new baby Jeep is speculated to be badged as a Fiat. Some of the insiders from the company are said to have confirmed Automotive News, that the vehicle will be manufactured in Fiat's Minafiori plant in Turin, Italy. They also did not rule out the chances of the vehicle being sold in U.S.

As per the older plans, the Minafiori facility was finalised for manufacturing the successors of Patriot and Compass, which obviously did not work out. Fiat says that as per the new plan, Minafiori will build the new baby Jeep, while the successors of the other 2 Jeep models will be built in U.S.
